Ayurveda
is the ancient science of life from India. Ayur means Life and Veda translates to Science, Knowledge or
Wisdom. Thus, Ayurveda is defined as
"The Science of Life". You can prevent
diseases, preserve health and promote longevity through this more than 7,000 years old healing science.
This
is an ancient system of medicine that uses herbs, oils, specific diet to
heal the rejuvenate. Ayurveda is widely used in India and now a days in the
different parts of the world to cure the ailments. In the ancient books (Charak
Sanhita, Bhav Prakash, Sushrut Sanhita, Astanghridya, Amritsagar, Vadhak
Rasraj Mahodadhi, Rashender Sar Sangrah, etc.)
the details of many ailments and herbs are provided, but due the difference in the names for ailments and herbs the things could not be located.
Mainly
ayurveda told us that the five elements (Prithvi
(Earth), Jala (Water), Tejas (Fire), Vayu (Air), Aakash (Ether)
are linked to five senses and these in turn shapes the nature of an
individual's constitution (Dosha or Life Force).
These doshas are known as Vata,
Pita and Kapha in Sanskrit. All the three
doshas have different qualities which distinguish them from each other. When
the doshas are out of balance only then the disease and illness occur to
some one. The main purpose of Ayurveda is to restore the balance of these
doshas to make some healthy. There are many ways to use
Ayurveda in self healing. One way people gain quick results is by choosing foods
& balanced diet that are appropriate for their body type. Since we eat two to three times per day this is an easy way to introduce beneficial qualities into the system.
